Data Science with R and R Studio- an Introductory Hands-On Workshop - Session #1


Join us for an hands-on, introductory night of Data science with Illya Mowerman We'll have some pizza (provided by our newest sponsorPatient Wisdom) and informal networking from 6:30PMto 7:00PM. The workshop will begin at 7:00PM. This will be a great evening for those new to R, new to Data Science, Excel users anyone curious about the R programming language and R ecosystem. This is the first of three introductory R/R studio workshops.

Our Instructor: Illya Mowerman, MBA, PhD

Illya Mowerman helps companies build analytics with greater impact- from data marts, to predictive models, to solutions, to online dynamic reports. Illya is equally proficient in R + Shiny and SAS. He is an independent consultant and managing partner of his firm Jardinero. Illya has worked for McKinsey, Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, and a wide variety of clients in diverse industries.

Illya trains analytics professionals in R, with courses tailored to diverse industries and needs. He develops in-house analytics teams including hiring, training, and nurturing innovative cultures.

The Talk : R and R Studio Session #1

During the first workshop session, Illya Mowerman will guide attendees through the basics of R and R studio. You will work through some basic exercises to get familiar withR and R studio. You will go through some simple exercises that show you how R works. Youll learn some of the more common ways to import your data into R, perform some basic data manipulation (also known as data wrangling). The first session will also teach some beginners techniques to do a bit more with your data.

This will be a great night of New Haven Data Science!
